In 2025, we launched the 1% Energy Saving Initiative to encourage our plant teams to identify energy-efficiency opportunities and strengthen resilience amid energy price volatility. Through operational improvements, digital optimization, and heat-recovery projects, our Carbon Black manufacturing sites in Shanghai, Tianjin, Xingtai, and Xuzhou China achieved 88,000 GJ of annualized energy savings, including 48,500 GJ of electricity, 33,500 GJ of thermal energy (steam), and 6,000 GJ of natural gas. These reductions have lowered energy demand across our operations, delivering both cost efficiencies and meaningful climate benefits. Building on this success, the initiative has become the foundation for a system-wide energy-efficiency program, demonstrating how continuous improvement and disciplined execution create lasting environmental and business value.
Achieving our 2030 energy goal requires a sustained focus on improving efficiency across our operations. To advance this effort, we launched a targeted initiative to identify, implement, and track site-level energy improvements. Piloted at our carbon black facilities in China, the program delivered approximately 88,000 GJ of annualized energy savings. Building on this success, we are expanding the approach across our global manufacturing network, starting with our carbon black sites to drive meaningful improvements in overall energy performance.
