Our COVID-19 Response:

Committed to Navigating These Times Responsibly

Throughout our history, we have been committed to operating responsibly with the safety and well-being of our employees and communities as our number one priority. These are unprecedented and challenging times with the rise of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and we are focused on navigating the situation responsibly. We are doing everything we can to help ensure the safety and well-being of our employees, their families, our business partners, suppliers and communities.

As measures intensify to contain the virus, it is imperative that we all play our role, not only in limiting the spread of the virus by operating safely but also in continuing to produce materials that are essential to critical supply chains. Our manufacturing operations and the materials we produce are essential to countless products needed for life-saving medical care and infrastructure, including fumed silica for medical tubing used in ventilator production, activated carbon for pharmaceuticals, hospital filtration and drinking water treatment, carbon blacks and masterbatches for critical transportation and infrastructure applications and more.

The plans we have put into place throughout our global network, and the dedication of our employees around the world make it possible for us to continue to fulfill these vital needs. We would not be able to provide continuity of supply without all of our Cabot colleagues and partners who have continued to work diligently over the past months. I am especially grateful for the commitment of our personnel in our plants who have adjusted to the new operating conditions and collaborated with us to ensure their safety. I am immensely grateful and inspired by all those on the frontlines – the first responders and medical personnel, grocery store workers, and all other essential workers – who continue to keep us safe and provide the necessary products and services needed to get us through this crisis.

I would be remiss if I did not recognize and thank our Cabot team and their families who have stepped up to aid their local communities during this time of need. From our sites donating personal protective equipment and contributing raw materials for the production of hand sanitizer, to helping supply food to children who are without access to school meals, we are inspired and encouraged by the selfless acts of kindness happening in every region around the Cabot world.

These are extraordinary times and we are focused on navigating the situation responsibly. To help ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, their families, and the greater community, we are following CDC and WHO guidelines as well as local government recommended measures.

We have implemented a number of additional provisions including:

  • Establishing a global COVID-19 response leadership team
  • Suspending all non-essential business travel
  • Instituting remote work arrangements for all employees whose jobs can be done remotely
  • Reducing to essential staffing at manufacturing locations to ensure social and physical distancing while maintaining safety
  • Enhancing screening and cleaning processes at manufacturing facilities
  • Promoting personal hygiene, such as handwashing

We are proud to play our part to continue serving our customers and our communities to the best of our ability during this time, but most of all, I am proud and inspired by the way our people around the world are responding to these challenging times.

Stay safe and healthy.
